Not to freak anyone out, but... can someone please tell me, what the hell is this thing!?

Crawled out of a t-shirt yesterday. About 1.5 cm in length. Top photo is cropped out of a bottom photo, and bottom photo is this thing on a t-shirt.

It doesn't look like a cattle tick, but it's damn freaky looking to be a spider. Or is it?

And those jaw-looking things in front.

Ew, I get shivers just looking at this photo now.

Someone? Anyone?

Edited to add after some googling: an orb web spider, maybe? Like this?

    2. You have a little Orb Weaver spider there, they fold themselves up like that when they feel threatened. I know that you don't have much in the way of spiders in NZ, I have orb weavers in my backyard in summer that are 8cm long and make a web 2 metres in diameter, but I live in New South Wales. You just get used to them although I do hate walking into a web at night because you just know that there was a spider in the middle and he is now probably somewhere on you!!
